About This Yacht

Lovingly owned for over 40 years by the same couple, this special yacht is ready for her next chapter. Her current owners are seeking a new family who will appreciate her timeless beauty and continue her legacy of adventure.

For those who admire classic, vintage wooden sailboats, this 1939 36’5” John Alden Coastwise Cutter is a rare and stunning example of the era.

“Ballerina” was hauled in 2024 and features updated bottom and topside paint. She is well protected with custom canvas covers over all railings and exposed wood surfaces, including the cabin top.

Her construction showcases true craftsmanship, with Philippine mahogany planking, white oak frames, a teak cockpit, and a teak walkway over the bowsprit. She was built by Graves Yacht Yard in Marblehead, Mass famous for building classic, high-performance sailboats and yachts.

She is powered by a 45HP Kubota engine with only 130 hours, offering reliability along with classic charm.

Below deck, you’ll find:

  • 6’3” headroom
  • Comfortable salon with port and starboard settees
  • Compact but functional galley with two ice boxes
  • Ample storage in custom cabinetry

Accommodations include:

  • Forward owner’s stateroom with a queen berth
  • Adjacent head compartment
  • Forward V-berths that sleep two comfortably

Additional features:

  • Dacron sails by North (mainsail, jib, and Yankee headsail)
  • Stainless steel standing rigging
  • Six winches
  • Approx. 50 ft air draft, making her ICW-friendly

This is a must-see John Alden classic—a true piece of sailing history that turns heads wherever she goes.

Located in Tavernier, Florida Keys.
