About This Yacht
A Fully Refit Bluewater Ketch with New Lithium Electrical System, Screen Navigation Suite, and Turn-Key Caribbean Cruising Pedigree
Super Mario is an outstanding example of the Morgan Out Island 512, one of the most popular full-keel Bluewater cruisers Charles Morgan’s yard ever built. Roomy and stable, she carries a spacious three-cabin, two-head interior finished entirely in teak, and she is set up for genuine long-range, off-grid cruising. The current ownership has invested heavily and recently in her systems, and she is ready for a new owner to simply launch and go.
The standout feature of this listing is Super Mario’s comprehensive 2025 electrical rebuild. The entire system was replaced from the ground up around Victron components, anchored by a 1,840 amp-hour lithium battery bank, a Victron MultiPlus 3,000-watt inverter/charger, and 1,200 watts of solar across two Victron charge controllers. The Kohler 9.5kW generator was fully refurbished the same year and shows only 200 hours since overhaul against 6,400 total. Combined with an 800 gallon-per-day Village Marine water maker, Super Mario is equipped to live comfortably at anchor indefinitely.
Power comes from a Perkins Sabre M135, a 135-horsepower, six-cylinder diesel with 5,450 hours on the clock and only 200 hours since a major overhaul. A 2026 navigation refit added a new Garmin chart plotter, Garmin Reactor autopilot, and Fanton Garmin color radar, paired with SI-TEX AIS and a Starlink Mini for offshore connectivity. A bow thruster and electric davits round out a boat built to be handled easily by a shorthanded crew.
The current owners purchased Super Mario in 2020 and delivered her from George Town, Exuma to Linton Bay, Panama, an eight-day Caribbean passage during which she both sailed and motored well. In the six years since, she has cruised the Caribbean and been maintained to a high standard throughout, with standing rigging replaced in 2023 and a fresh ablative Sea Hawk bottom job completed in 2026. She was hauled in July and painted specifically for her next owner to launch and go.

Interior Accommodations and Layout
Super Mario’s interior is finished entirely in rich teak with a teak parquet sole throughout, giving her a warm, finished feel that belies her age. The layout is a practical center-cockpit arrangement with a three-cabin, two-head accommodation plan: a full-beam salon and dinette amidships, a starboard guest stateroom and forward V-berth cabin sharing a guest head, and a private aft master suite with its own ensuite head.
Entering down the center companionway, the salon opens up immediately, its sense of volume increased by a bulkhead-mounted mirror forward. Moving aft over the teak parquet sole, the navigation station sits to port with chart and manual storage, across from double doors into the engine room and a tall pantry closet leading back to the master stateroom. Forward of the salon, the guest head sits to port with the starboard guest stateroom across from it, and the V-berth cabin forward of that.

BROKER’S COMMENTS
Super Mario is an outstanding example of the popular Morgan Out Island 512 series. I sold this boat to the present owners in 2020 and helped deliver her from George Town, Exuma to Linton Bay, Panama — she was impressive across the eight-day Caribbean passage, sailing and motoring equally well, with the generator comfortably powering air conditioning and the water maker underway.
Since that delivery, the owners have cruised her around the Caribbean for six years, always keeping her in top condition, and have added substantial new gear over the last couple of years. She was hauled in July and painted for the next owner to simply launch and go.
I highly recommend this boat and, in my opinion, she is of terrific value at $110,000.

REVIEWS
· SAILING Magazine’s Rebecca J. Casarez wrote that the Morgan Out Island 51/512 carries an undeserved reputation, calling it “a roomy, capable cruiser that performs decently, especially when reaching,” which she noted makes it a strong value on the used market.
· The magazine detailed the model’s ketch rig in depth, noting a total of 18 stays and shrouds ranging from 7/16-inch wire at the forestay and main uppers down to 5/16-inch at the mizzen shrouds.
The review also noted the Out Island 51/512 comes standard with hydraulic steering, a detail worth factoring into any future autopilot or steering work
