This Sparkman & Stephens Tartan 40 incorporates an innovative keel/centerboard arrangement. And yet she is a distinguished performer, both upwind and down, Her sailing manners and honest speed are vintage Tartan. The cockpit is 9'3" long with a sail locker to port and two huge lazarettes aft of the pedestal. Coaming are wide and extremely comfortable to sit on. All deck surfaces have molded in non-skid patterns and the wide sidedecks insure safe passage to the bow. There is much to savor in the quality of her appointments, the graceful sweep of her sheer and the Tartan record of enduring value.
