About This Yacht
Island Drifter is nicely maintained aft cabin Albin 43. Her current owners have kept up on her maintenance and usability and it shows. Good electronics and a long list of equipment make Island Drifter a wonderful option for a cruising couple with room for family or guests. She is currently out of the water for the summer season and is easy to view.
Overview
Island Drifter is the upgraded Albin version of this fine trawler design. Owned by her present owners for the last 6 years they brought her down from Ma. and now cruise her in the Keys for the winter season. She has the Albin elegance inside an out. Some woodwork needs to be attended to but she is ready to cruise and live aboard. The bottom has been just done(4/26) by the yard where she is laid up and she has a previous barrier coat. Some window areas show water staining but no current leaks are reported. There is a low hour 8K genset (840hrs.) The 135 Ford Lehmans have under 2800 hours reported and run perfectly.
Vessel Walk Through
Boarding Island Drifter can be done on either port or starboard side through gates in the rail or from a tender or water onto the swim platform and up the short transom wall. Once on deck, from the port side you enter the aft end of the salon or from starboard you enter at the lower helm. From the salon moving forward the U-shaped galley is down to port with the guest head opposite to starboard followed by the V berth. The lower helm is to starboard in the salon. There is a fold out bar forward to port with 2 stools along the salon/galley half wall. The salon has lots of comfortable seating see below. You enter the full beam master stateroom from the port aft salon. The island queen has a large amount of storage to both port and starboard and the ensuite head with half tub with shower is to starboard forward in the stateroom. The flybridge can be accessed from the port side deck, up onto the aft cabin deck and then up onto the flybridge where the helm is located to starboard forward.
Main Salon
The salon offers a comfortable space for navigating, dining, relaxing, entertaining and sleeping. Port side aft and starboard side forward entry doors allow easy access into and out of the salon. The lower helm is immediately inside the starboard entry door and has a good view around the boat. The instrumentation is forward of the helm with gauges and communications gear in the overhead. Immediately aft of the helm is a cabinet followed by a futon sofa with a stand alone drop leaf dining table. To port are 2 wicker occasional chairs with a teak table/cabinet between them. At the salon side of the galley is a fold up bar with 2 stools. There are curtains for all of the salon windows.
Galley
The U Shaped galley down configuration offers a large amount of galley space without removing those in the galley from others in the salon. Facing the port side in the galley the double basin stainless steel sink is immediately to your left with a refrigerator and freezer to your right. The 3 burner propane stove with oven is directly in front of you. There are stove top and sink covers which add to the already nice amount of counter space with two in counter compartments and cabinets over and under the counter on both sides which provide ample storage. A toaster oven rounds out the appliances in the galley.
Guest Stateroom
The forward berth is a V berth configuration with filler. An overhead hatch and opening port lights on both port and starboard allow plenty of natural light and airflow. There are book shelves with reading lights over each side of the berth, (2)110V outlets, storage under the berths and a hanging locker to starboard with a large shelf on top provide ample storage space.
Guest Head
The guest head is aft of the forward stateroom to starboard. There is a Jabsco electric toilet and sink with h/c pressure water and storage cabinet underneath the built in vanity. There is a mirror above the sink, storage cabinet on the outside bulkhead, a single opening portlight for additional light and airflow and access to the back side of the lower helm and electrical wiring.
Master Stateroom & Ensuite Head
The full beam master stateroom is in the aft of the boat. Entry is down a short set of steps from the salon. An access door to the engine room is behind the stairs. Storage cabinets, drawers and a hanging lockers line both the port and starboard sides of the master stateroom, providing a large amount of storage. The island queen is on the aft bulkhead with reading lights on each side. Large windows with shades/curtains on 3 walls provide a great deal of light into this space. The ensuite head is forward and to starboard in the master stateroom. The head features a mini tub with shower, a Jabsco electric toilet, sink, mirror and medicine cabinet. A large window with shade provides additional natural light and airflow to the space.
Flybridge
The large flybridge has a bimini with 4-sided enclosure. There are bench seats facing fore & aft with cushions which provides seating at the helm station and for copilots and guests. Lots of room for additional seating to enjoy watching the world go by.
