James Scheerer is a proven 1995 Brady 12.5, a 41-foot, three-cabin, single-head sailing catamaran designed for comfortable bluewater cruising and extended liveaboard life. Combining robust construction with practical systems, she is well suited to serious cruising sailors.

Originally built as an expedition camera vessel operating in Western Australia’s Shark Bay, James Scheerer monitored dugongs, sharks and turtles before returning to New South Wales, where she operated successfully as a charter vessel. She later became a well-loved family cruising cat, regularly voyaging along the east coast and to the Great Barrier Reef.

The vessel has been continually upgraded, including engines, rigging, sails, watermaker and electronics, with a major refit programme from 2021 to the present. Her navigation suite is a standout, featuring Garmin chartplotter and radar, wind instruments, forward-facing sonar, Vesper Marine WatchMate AIS and a Coursemaster CM95 autopilot, providing excellent situational awareness offshore and when entering ports or anchorages.

Set up for independence, she offers close to 1,200 watts of solar, approximately 700 litres of diesel, 700 litres of water and a 120 LPH watermaker, allowing extended cruising without reliance on marinas. Built in WEST SYSTEM cedar and epoxy composite for hull and deck, James Scheerer is strong, lightweight and built to go the distance.
